And I’m glad that the day exists, although I find it disheartening that we have to have that day. Speaking as a twenty-something cisgendered white man, I am privileged . I’ve never experienced, and do not know the feelings of oppression, prejudice or racism.
What I do know is that we would do well to remember that we are all human. We all Love. We all desire familial connections and relationships. It does not matter who you love, or how you identify, or how those you love identify, or what anyone does behind closed doors. If we all stuck to pursuing our own happiness, and didn’t worry so much about everyone else, we’d all have a better time. Nobody should have to come out as anything or anyone; they are who they are, and should be celebrated for that.
